Accessibility statement
Last updated: 31 July 2026
We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible – regardless of limitations of sight, hearing or mobility, and regardless of whether it is operated with a mouse, a keyboard or a screen reader. This statement sets out openly what has been tested, what is met and what is still outstanding.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the requirements of the European standard EN 301 549 in conjunction with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. This single benchmark applies to all language versions and all markets we serve. “Partially” does not mean that something is missing which we know about and leave undone – it means that a large part of the requirements can only be judged by people, and those assessments are still outstanding. Everything that can be measured by machine is met.
What has been tested and is met
The basis is a calculated check of all colour values, our own browser measurements of reflow and target size across the 28 pages that existed at the time of measurement, and an independent automated test in the browser across fourteen pages – both most recently on 30 July 2026. The corrections made the same day – focus ring, display without JavaScript, required-field marking and language markup – have been checked in the source and by calculation; a repeat test in the browser is still outstanding.
- Colour contrast. Every combination of text and background was calculated using the WCAG formula. The order button reaches 5.2:1, required-field markers 6.0:1, field borders 4.1:1, success messages 6.4:1, the language switcher 4.8:1 to 14.6:1. No text is below 4.5:1 and no control below 3:1.
- Reflow and zoom. The 28 measured pages were checked at 320 pixels wide. No page has to be scrolled horizontally; long words are broken.
- Target size. The primary controls measure at least 44 × 44 pixels – buttons, the language switcher, the menu button and the links in the footer included. A few smaller controls fall below that, such as the main navigation items in the page header and the currency switcher in the ordering process. The stricter level AAA is therefore not met throughout.
- Keyboard operation. Focus is visible throughout. The focus ring consists of a light and a dark ring and therefore reaches 9.6:1 on light and dark surfaces alike. The language switcher opens by keyboard and closes with Esc.
- Labels. Where a control carries visible text, that text is also part of its spoken name. Anyone operating the site by voice can say the visible text and hit the right element.
- Changes of language. Foreign-language words within running text are marked up individually. In the language switcher on the home pages “한국어” carries the Korean marking while the explanatory word beside it does not – screen readers pronounce both correctly.
- Skip links. Every page begins with “Skip to content” – including the order page, the withdrawal form and the account area.
- Page structure. Header, navigation, main area and footer are marked up as landmarks and named; each page has exactly one main heading, and heading levels follow one another without gaps.
- Forms. Every input field has a visible label. Required fields are recognisable as such to assistive technology too.
- Text alternatives. Every image has an alternative description; decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers. Star ratings are also given as text.
- Motion. Automatic animations run only briefly and are suppressed entirely when the system setting “reduce motion” is active. Key figures show their value without JavaScript as well. There is neither video nor audio on this website; nothing starts by itself.
- High contrast mode. Windows high contrast mode is taken into account.
- Documents as PDF. Invoices, delivery notes and credit notes carry a structure tree: headings with no gaps between levels, paragraphs, and the item table with its header cells marked up. The logo has an alternative description. The document states its language, displays its title and derives the tab order from the document structure. Rules are marked as decoration and are skipped. Documents for the German language version are in German, all others in English – amounts, dates and country names each in the convention of the document language. The font used is embedded in every file – the same family as on the website, under the SIL Open Font License. The documents therefore carry the PDF/UA identification.
What is not accessible
- PayPal payment windows. Card payment runs in embedded windows provided by PayPal. Their labelling, error texts and keyboard operation are not under our control. We place our own visible labels above them, set the language, and add a name to the embedded windows afterwards; the content of the windows remains foreign.
- Names in non-Latin scripts on documents. A Latin character set is embedded in the documents. Names and addresses in Korean or Indic scripts are therefore transliterated into Latin script for the document.
- Error messages in forms. Form errors are currently reported by the browser's built-in validation. How it is presented and announced by screen readers differs from browser to browser. Our own field-level error output is prepared and will be retrofitted.
What has not yet been tested
Automated tests cover only part of the requirements. Of the 55 requirements of level AA, eight are confirmed as met by machine; for the remaining 47 no machine measurements are available. Specifically outstanding:
- A complete run with screen readers (NVDA and VoiceOver) across the whole ordering process and across the documents.
- The unique naming of the embedded payment windows – retrofitted by us, but not yet judged by a person.
- Presentation at 200 % zoom.
- A formal check of the documents against the PDF/UA standard with an established validator. The identification in the document is the producer’s own declaration, not a certificate.
How this statement was produced
It is based on a technical self-assessment in which the page sources of all language versions were evaluated automatically and all colour values calculated, on our own browser measurements of reflow and target size across the 28 pages that existed at the time of measurement, and on an independent automated browser test against WCAG 2.2 AA across fourteen pages, dated 30 July 2026. On 30 July 2026 the focus ring, the display without JavaScript, the required-field marking and the language markup were subsequently revised; those changes have been checked in the source and by calculation, but not yet re-tested in the browser. An invoice and a delivery note were additionally checked with an independent testing tool for PDF documents on 31 July 2026. No assessment by a recognised body has taken place. This statement is not a declaration of conformity. It will be updated as soon as the outstanding items have been addressed.
